SIEM REAP: The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Hang Chuon Naron, opened the new 2021-2022 school year at Hun Sen High School, Bakong Temple in Siem Reap Province, on Monday. He delivered a speech at the opening ceremony where he said that the Royal Government is striving for further social and economic development, and considers Human Resource development to be a top priority.

He stated that the Ministry of Education is also committed to strengthening the quality of science and technology education by taking advantage of regional and international performance to ensure high economic growth.

Prime Minister Hun Sen also raised a number of issues regarding education development through a congratulatory video message on the opening of the new school year, and requested the Ministry of Education to make changes to improve the quality of education in Cambodia.

He stated that the reopening of schools today is the result of many months of struggle against Covid-19 faced by the government and the people of Cambodia, in an effort to build up national strength and return to normalcy. He continued that the Ministry of Education must now consider the choice and development of a wide range of teaching and learning facilities to ensure the provision of responsive and vibrant educational services that are decentralized and focuses, in particular, on responding to the labor market by applying new approaches and skills needed in the digital age.
